Halloween Sweets and Treats

We’re already mid-way through this autumn. Tis’ the season to enjoy everything pumpkin spiced! Lattes, teas, muffins, cookies, pies, and everything else! There are so many other Halloween Sweets and Treats too!!! The days are cold and crisp while, the sun is barely out. However, the streets remain as well-lit with the yellow and orange leaves on the streets. The dried leaves lay under the jack-o-lanterns on the porches outside of the neighbourhood homes. The jack-o-lantern carvings are getting quite impressive with bats and even, witches on the pumpkins. The leafless branches on the trees are wrapped with the yellow CAUTION tape to put some extra scare into the town.

With Halloween right around the corner, it is time to get the kids ready for their long awaited Halloween nights in this year’s costumes. Zombies and witches and dragons, Oh My! My 6 year old twin girls are going to be a pair of M&Ms while, my 4 year old son is Spiderman! The costumes are getting super creative but, costumes such as, the witches and vampires will always be classics! During my time, I had the same costume for every Halloween! I was a fortune teller! Now, there’s some trendy costumes each year. Last year, the new costume must have been the Despicable Me adorable Minions! I wonder what I’ll see this year!

You can hear the crunch of all the dried leaves as the children run through the streets! To each house they go, “Trick-or-treat!” They take a peek inside each house as they go through the street gathering all the sweets they can get! While the home owner makes a few comments on their cute adorable costumes, they drop in the candy or chocolate into their little treat bags. I need to remind my kids to say their “thank you” before they vanish to the next house! As the sky gets darker and the winds get colder, it’s time to go home.

Trick-or treat? Halloween is always a time where, we make many good memories! But, the night isn’t complete without a little family time while, the children categorize their treats separating the good candy from the bad and the chocolate from the candy. All of them absolutely despise those Halloween rock-hard candies that tastes like molasses. And, I’d have to agree with them! Those have been around ever since I went trick-or-treating! And now, it’s my turn! I surprise my children with some tasty Halloween Sweets and Treats. It’ll only add to the good treats and chocolates they received this year! It completes this Halloween with smiles and laughs! And, maybe some hyper children! It’s okay, it’s Friday!  Happy Halloween!
